The Tories’ bungled Brexit has cost us billions. It’s time to make that clear
Letters: Neil Kinnock says pointing out the harm done by Brexit is public service information, not ‘remoaning’. Plus letters from John Bailey, Pauline Caldwell and Nicolas Baby
big: #Meta's business model declared illegal in the EU according to WSJ. #Facebook, #Instagram and #WhatsApp can no longer run personalized ads without user consent - https://noyb.eu/en/noyb-win-personalized-ads-facebook-instagram-and-whatsapp-declared-illegal micro-targeted ads out, no more RTB. Meta will appeal of course, so only provisional... #privacy
well twitter hasn't burned down as fast as I thought it might, infrastructure-wise. I'll give them credit for that
but... there's also not much interesting happening over there. everything interesting seems to be happening over here.
I'm not the only one saying this. heard this from several friends this week. woot, success. the centralized engagement machine has no hold over me anymore.

Popcorn time.

Good. But that is less than half a job done. Get rid of #FPTP, like nearly all the rest of his party #UKLabour want to do, and I might start taking his musings on democracy seriously.

Politics. Privatising The World
Finally, my book arrived after years of searching for it. I paid £8:99.
I found this book in an Online Oxfam shop, after years of searching. I could not afford to buy before.
(Used Amazon £72:97
Used AbeBooks £46:03)
This is why I wanted to read it and why I want to stop privatising the world. We only have to look at our world to see the damage it's done to ordinary people.

Hope I have done this right @jas@twt.cymru

Hard-right neoliberalism gave us:
300,000 austerity deaths since 2010
Brexit
Covid being allowed to rip through the UK unchecked until it was too late
Hypothermia

This sinister ideology needs to die before it kills many more people and destroys all we hold dear
I wonder what Aneurin Bevan made of #christmas. Especially in regards to inclusive #wellbeing. It’s a time that throws so much up for people, poverty, missing home - family or isolation. Christmas for me is not about wanting presents, though when someone gets a gift intuitively right that’s lovely & I do really enjoy thinking about what others may like. Most, I like tradition of family, friends, engaging with the natural magic of winter, though those things seem hard to get, right. #photography
❄️ The whole of the UK can expect temperatures to plummet in the coming days with the arrival of a dramatically named wintry storm called the 'Troll of Trondheim'

Bessie Stringfield
'In 1930, at age of 19, Bessie Stringfield flipped a penny onto a map of the US then ventured out on her bike alone. She became the first Black woman to ride a motorcycle in every one of the connected 48 states — a solo cross-country ride she undertook eight times during her lifetime'

This weekend I will be working more on the "United Federation of Instances"
First thing I want to do is go through all the issues in the repo and try to comment or add my opinion on them.
Feel free to get in on the conversation here, its open to everyone.
https://gitlab.com/ufoi/constitution/-/issues
Next I will work more on finishing the full bylaws, and try to incorperate any new perspectives from the discussions in the issues (eventually we can vote on the final wording).
Anyone interested in seeing the progress on that (the first draft isnt done) you can check that out here:
https://ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/united_federation_of_instances_bylaws.pdf
Of course you can see the original proposal document (which is the easier read and sumarizes the bylaws) here:
https://ufoi.gitlab.io/constitution/united_federation_of_instances_proposal.pdf
If anyone wants to contribute just join the first link I mentioned and feel free to offer merge requests. Also if anyone wants to help work on things like a website for us please speak up.
As always if you want to get into the conversation there are two ways other than the gitlab.
The first is fediverse groups: @ufoi
The other is our matrix chat room: #UFoI:matrix.org
Hope to see you all there.
I never thought, when I trained or worked as a GP, that Diphtheria and Polio or, to a large extent, measles, would again be things that I might have to recognise. Nor would I have believed that malnutrition on a scale currently seen would be tolerated by society. I was wrong - how quickly are the hard-fought gains lost.
Hi, I'm Yasmine. I live in the North Pennines in England. I have a border collie and a no-dig allotment, and I occasionally dabble with mosaics and pen and ink. Trying to be a runner!!
I'm not sure yet what I'll be sharing over here, but on the bird place it was wildlife, regenerative farming, general ranting about UK politics, and feeling helpless at the horrors humans are inflicting on the planet and each other.
St. David’s Hall in Cardiff could be sold off into private hands by Cardiff City Council. This would result in
the loss of a cultural treasure 🎶🏴
