Over the past week we've seen a noticeable uptick in men joining, following dozens of accounts presenting as women, and then messaging them directly.
Some appear to be real people, some are fake accounts with stolen identities.
Either way, this is stalking and harassing behaviour, and we have zero tolerance for it.
For those affected by accounts we fail to catch, please report them. We _will_ take action, and you'll help keep the community safe and welcoming for all.

In a 'confidential' email notification sent by Okta and seen by BleepingComputer, the company states that attackers gained access to its GitHub repositories this month and stole the company's source code.

Ryle had a heart attack.
Ryle is now hospitalized after having a heart attack last night. Ryle asked the Awoo! moderation team to write a post on their behalf and to be transparent. The conversation was brief, and we have pieced together most of the details.
Ourselves believe the heart attack was caused by a combination of things, suspect the recent stress involving strong conversations around Fedifence, Fediblock and UFOI. The triggering message was in reply to one of the UFOI threads telling Ryle to kill themselves and with video footage of men brutally stabbing a woman to death. Ryle is unlikely to be around for a while.
Receipts of the post is available on request through direct message to: @Transparency
This material is heinous and will break rules of other instances, so we are only sending this instance administrators/moderators on request. They are free to share at their own risk the receipts.
DO NOT attempt to contact Ryle to harass, upset. The moderation team also now have full access to Ryle’s account, and ourselves will be actively removing any unpleasant direct messages left.

About A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace
A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace is a document of naive reaction. It discounts physicality, by which it hollows itself out and becomes unable to say anything about the ethics and metaphysics.
It discounts physicality, giving no consideration to the actual physics of how the cyberspace is supported. Cyberspace won't become independent from nation states as long as the ISPs are not. The ISPs won't become independent as long as their cables are on sovereign land and their signals go though sovereign airspace.
By rejecting physicality it hollows itself out.
It tries to imitate the Declaration of Independence of the US, but it barely lists any grievances with weight. Physicality of grievances is what weighs on people's conscious.
It wants a new governance like the Communist Manifesto, yet it has neither a sharp criticism of the existing governance nor a vision of what the new one should be like. Physicality of the governance is what supports criticisms and visions, and what spurs the mass into action.
It is a flimsy document which cannot support a coherent political worldview. I recommend Lars Doucet's book review series about Henry George's Progress and Poverty as a substitute.

2020年疫情爆发初期，从大年初三开始，鄙镇的疫情物资生产厂（私企）的销售就被国资控制，售价限定，所有的订单必须通过国资药企安排、发货。如此，该物资在本镇也是极度紧缺，必须高价获得。
在之后的一段时间里，有关部门开始摸查涉疫物资生产企业清单，制定应急物资统销预案，一旦涉疫物资紧张，有关部门就会启动预案，把企业的产能全部控制，统一调配。
所以可以想见，目前你们买不到抗原测试盒、退烧药，都因为这个制度在发挥作用。至于统销之后的效率是更高还是更低，个人感受吧。反正鄙镇，给政府工作人员免费派发抗原测试盒，人人都有，而市面上一盒难求。
@dreamwishes3 Depends on what resources you will be learning with. For example, CS50 is a great course which teaches Python and C. I wouldn't recommend replacing C with Rust there willy-nilly.
OTOH, if/when you need to take an OSdev course, and taking on multi-threading without GC, Rust will be your best friend.

Now @mozilla is officially building upon the Fediverse. Their foray will be an instance hosted at mozilla.social.
But I hope they go further than this:
1. Make Thunderbird a Fediverse client
2. Build in-browser Fediverse functionality
3. Support a Fediverse app ecosystem
Mozilla can do so much to further the Fediverse. Let's hope that they think big.

I've waited a few days to post this about the #mastodonmigration. Here is the evolution of the new accounts in #mastodon after the events in the last week. After each new ban/suspension in the #bluebird we see a spike in new accounts in #mastodon. But recent growth seems to be more steady at around 50k per day. Since the #bluebird purchase by Musk, more than 3 million new accounts were created in #mastodon.

Perhaps it's just my imagination, but it feels like there have been many major features landing in #Rust recently. In 1.65, GATs, let-else, and Backtrace. In 1.66, black_box and cargo remove. Now on nightly, let chains may re-land, TAIT is in FCP, and inline const and pin! are both one checkbox away from FCP.
Many of these features are the results of years of work by many people. Every bit matters, and seeing them all land in just a few releases is huge.

5年前には、自分で見よう見まねでMastodonサーバーを立てたんですが、トラブルシュートやバージョン追従するのが大変になってしまって、途中でやめちゃいました。
今回はホストドンさんにお願いして立てたので、大変楽です（それはそう）。
自分がかけられる労力に合わせて選択肢を選ぶのは大事だなと思った次第です。
もっとも、そのときの経験は無駄にはなっていなくて、今回のマストドンブームの意味をすぐに理解する役に立っていると思います。

わたしはMastodonの検索の弱さを愛しているけど、技術的には公開tootを集めて検索する仕組みを作ることはできるし、実際に過去にも現在にも存在するのでまあそれはそれでそうよね。
「検索されたくないならネットに書くな」は完全に正論なんだけど、その正論とは同じ土俵じゃなくて、「ネットに書いてるのに検索しづらいってなんかいいよね」って気持ちなんだよな
