'The seizure of Z-Library was the latest episode in an ongoing tussle between shadow libraries and state authorities. In 2015, when the academic publishing giant Elsevier took LibGen and Sci-Hub to court in the US, the sites were found to be in breach of copyright regulations and ordered to pay $15 million in damages (they didn’t). In 2020, Elsevier teamed up with Wiley and the American Chemical Society to sue the sites again, this time in Delhi; the case is ongoing, but seems likely to go the publishers’ way. Yet shadow libraries remain effectively impossible to prosecute, let alone abolish'

Very informative video on what #cars (and mainly #parking) do to your city. In this case #Amsterdam and, at the end of the vid, what the parking for (only) 400 cars next to the #Bijenkorf does do to the city centre (hint: a hell-u-v-a-lot-of-cars) https://youtu.be/mXLqrMljdfU by #NotJustBikes

Advance warning: the newest #rust compiler nightlies have much more aggressive "type trimming" in some diagnostics. If you encounter *any* cases where there are naming clashes being surfaced that are not clarified anywhere in the diagnostic, please file a ticket!
You gotta hand it to #racket, in terms of getting things done in a no-nonsense way without sacrificing expressing power, syntax-parse is the bees knees. But its implementation seems pretty thick.
Every time that I feel like I've become comfortable with syntax-case I try to do something seemingly simple that requires procedural transformation back-and-forth between syntax objects and their corresponding forms, only to spend ~10 hours getting the mechanics right.
But each time I walk away with a whole handful of new tools that simplify so many extremely gnarly programming problems. The literature seems to be more or less limited to Dybvig's treatment, which is really good but fairly steep and focused on implementing the same procedures that are always used to teach macros. When I eventually get it down I'll definitely try to put together a tutorial.
Superb resource from Aaron Ballman: collected differences between C and C++ in the superficially "shared subset" of the languages. "C xor C++".
As I said this am, Elno’s plans to force users to sign on for personalized ads and to provide location to Twitter isn’t going to fly, but @mmasnick has clearly explained here why.
