Here's an interesting fact: in the first version of the Stanford-Binet IQ test, women on average did better than men. Since women could not be more intelligent than men, they removed questions women did better on, and replaced them with ones men did better on, until the results came out right. (Hacking, /The Social Construction of What?/, p. 173.)
Is this too much to ask? Evidently it is. 😕

@TinoACarbajales ¡Hola!

More cities in #France install "Méduse" anti-noise radars, which have 4 microphones, and a camera to automatically ticket vehicles that exceed a certain number of decibels
I'm dead serious; and furthermore as someone who has studied fascism, fascists, and the white sumpremacist ideology that binds the together, I can honestly say it was probably a pretty bad idea to tell nazis who think they're invincible that climate catastrophe disproportionately affects all the people they hate the most. They're slowly turning that into a feature, not a bug, in their fantasyland nazi cracker ethos.
I'm actually not big on setting machine specific aliases. I think it makes me forget how the commands work when I move servers or rebuild machines. But I use variations of this alot.
1. /home/user/bin/notes.sh
#!/bin/env bash
STAMP=`date +"%Y-%m-%d-%H%M"`
echo "# $STAMP" > ${STAMP}.md
vim ${STAMP}
2. .bashrc

This. Is. Amazing.
Montréal suburb Brossard has a traffic light in a school zone that defaults to red, and only turns green when an attached speed camera detects a car driving under the speed limit.
The light is on a 90-day trial, on a 2-lane residential street. Similar signals are widespread across Europe.
Before it was installed, average vehicle speeds of 40 km/h. But in the past week, average speeds have dropped to 29 km/h.
“People who criticize new technologies are sometimes called Luddites, but it’s helpful to clarify what the Luddites actually wanted. The main thing they were protesting was the fact that their wages were falling at the same time that factory owners’ profits were increasing, along with food prices. They were also protesting unsafe working conditions, the use of child labor, and the sale of shoddy goods that discredited the entire textile industry. The Luddites did not indiscriminately destroy machines; if a machine’s owner paid his workers well, they left it alone. The Luddites were not anti-technology; what they wanted was economic justice. They destroyed machinery as a way to get factory owners’ attention. The fact that the word #Luddite is now used as an insult, a way of calling someone irrational and ignorant, is a result of a smear campaign by the forces of capital.”
Ted Chiang in the New Yorker.
Read an article today about why Americans think alcohol has health benefits and it's apparently another "well the French are healthy and they do X so it's healthy to do X."
So here's your periodic reminder that France (and Italy, and Sweden, and Japan, and basically every country you've seen in a "this country is so healthy, what's their secret?" headline) has universal health care.
The secret is access to health care. It's always access to health care.
