Scraping scale insects off the allspice tree and cleaning up the mess they leave behind is oddly satisfying. When it was half this size, spouse said it it's too much work get rid of it. Now he's gone it's my duty (plus his two banana and lime trees, also scale-prone).

We really do forget how much damage Trump did to democracy abroad because he did so much damage at home. But for four years, the message that strongmen and their supporters got from the United States was strength is all that matters and you can't lose if you refuse to accept it.

Yvonne Madelaine Brill was born #OTD in 1924. She was a rocket scientist who invented the hydrazine resistojet, which increased the payload capacity of satellites by reducing the weight of propellant they require. JWST uses hydrazine thrusters!
