@Ciaraioch I received your beautiful artwork today. It arrived in perfect condition in lovingly personalised packing with its free gift. The Giclée print quality and paper stock is amazing. It's destined to be framed as a Christmas presser for the missus. She has lost both her Mum and Dad now and the hearth in your painting is so quintessentially Irish it could be their very own. The details like the memorial cards and Brigid's cross tucked behind the picture, the improvised turf bucket, discarded stick and promotional calendar, are all features of the Irish hearth, which will all but have died out with Generation Z in favour of the Big Telly / games console. Thank you, GRMMA, blessings. Alan.

Codefreeze 🇫🇮❄️ 11.-18.1.2025

Hello, we have a new profile here and intend to stop updating our Twitter.

Codefreeze is an #unconference that takes place every January in #Lapland, Finland with very little structure. Actually, it’s not a conference at all. Codefreeze is a time and place for software craftspeople to meet. We would like to have like-minded people to gather in one place and have long conversations about our craft over a drink. And to practice our coding skills.

I put up a little rant about Midjourney and AI art over at Facebook... figured it might make sense here as well. Sorry for the attempt at a thread....

2012 was a good year. I saw Springsteen at the Isle of Wight.

This is a great article by Jenni Nadler about writing better error messages.

I particularly like this comment: 'Imagine a doctor performing a procedure and then suddenly saying “Oops! Something went wrong…”'

This morning: SVG graphics and HTML5 geolocation. I like delivering this course (Advanced ) as it gives delegates a chance to build out something reasonably nice-looking.
