There are four schools of thought that each have their own ideas on how scientific peer review can be improved. Wolfgang Kaltenbrunner, @stephenpinfield, Helen Woods and I have revised our paper on this topic https://doi.org/10.31235/osf.io/v8ghj. We have also created a visualization that summarizes the key tensions between the four schools. We are grateful to the reviewers of our paper for their very useful feedback.

After more than a decade of doing it, I’ve realised that the thing I love most about editing #RegisteredReports is that because you’re involved from the beginning of the idea to the end of the research, you become like a surrogate member of their lab family. Through thick and thin, pandemics, new jobs, births, deaths and everything in between, you remain a kind of constant, supporting them and the community by overseeing independent critical evaluation. It’s a unique role in science.
