🎂 Today is my birthday, and I'll be using this opportunity to raise money for folks experiencing homelessness this winter. So, in 30 minutes please join me on YouTube for a live stream where we'll build a complete SwiftUI and SwiftData app from scratch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4SCMC25BxY
"Do you know why I pulled you over?" will be illegal in California from January 1, 2024. Now police have to tell you why they pulled you over.
The idea is to stop pre-textual traffic stops, in which an officer pulls over a driver, usually Latino or African-American, intending to find a reason to search their vehicle for contraband.
Research shows that pre-textual traffic stops are a racist practice that nets very little contraband. #acab

Do a search on your city for 'Discount Grocery Warehouse'. There is very likely a place in your area that is open to the public that sells near-expired (in the next few months) and overstock grocery items. There is one where I live that gets in frozen food items as well as a lot of international food items. I shop there for myself primarily now and my grocery bill is $35 per week. And I'm by no means going hungry.

Want to define the future of one of the coolest programming languages around, and work with both the open source community and awesome folks within Apple? Great news, I'm hiring for the Swift standard library team.
Note that my team is remote-first. You need not relocate to Cupertino (or anywhere else) for this role.

@willrbishop That’s my bus route. :-)
We also get to interact with a lot of people, like my kid's friend's dad, who has recently learned to ride a unicycle. And the family of 5 who creates their own bike bus every morning. And the old man who walked his old dog around the pond every morning, and who one day we saw sans dog, and exchanged a knowing sad look that became a hug that became a friendship.
Cars are good for a lot of things, but seeing cool things and making new friends are definitely not among them.
I'm shocked, shocked that we won't be able to keep warming to 1.5℃. Who could have seen that coming.
Business as usual will result in warming of around 3.4℃. My bet is we'll wind up closer to that than to 1.5℃, due to the fact that shortsighted, ignorant, selfish, greedy people run the world. I don't know if civilization can survive that kind of climate. I guess we'll find out the hard way.

Easy to miss, but impossible to ignore as an iOS developer: Apple publishes site updates frequently, and it pays to check it weekly. New tutorials, doc updates and more: https://developer.apple.com/news/site-updates/
280 million e-bikes are slashing oil demand far more than electric vehicles
E-bikes and scooters displace 4x as much demand for oil as all of the EVs in the world.
