“In sum, there is no denying that women’s path to leadership positions is paved with many barriers including a very thick glass ceiling. But a much bigger problem is the lack of career obstacles for incompetent men [..] The result is a pathological system that rewards men for their incompetence while punishing women for their competence, to everybody’s detriment.”

Bought some rechargeable spoke lights because I hate throwing away batteries, but realized (a) they’re a pain to take off once on, and (b) there’s no power where I store my bike at home. Testing out how I might charge the lights at the same time as the bike with this prototype setup in my office. (Real charging will be in the bike room.)
Ohio Republicans are claiming a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights, which was approved by voters in Tuesday’s election, doesn’t actually do that — and they’re promising to take steps to prevent the legal protection of reproductive freedom in the state. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/ohio-republicans-stop-issue-1-abortion-rights-1234875333/
Much has changed after 10 releases of watchOS! I usually love @verge but this is a bad take. Of course Apple used professional lighting and equipment when taking the video. That doesn't at all diminish the result or achievement here.
> Norway offers a warning about the dangers of promoting EVs at the expense of modes that are more beneficial to the environment as well as urban life. The national government’s decision to subsidize electric cars but not e-bikes makes no sense from a climate perspective.

This article is really helpful for understanding how Double Tap grew out of—but differs from—Assistive Touch and Accessibility Quick Actions, and why it’s only available on newer hardware.

People post because they want to vent, to share their frustration, to make others laugh or shake heads. If ppl post to get advice, they usually explicitly ask.
So: You want to give advice?
Has the person asked for it? No? Then don't.
But you really, really want to give advice! Still: no!
But your advice is really relevant! Still: no.
But you also know the person well (you follow them & they you & you interacted): ask if they want advice. If they don't explicitly say yes - it's still a no.

It's cars. It's always cars.
Both Monkeybrains and the preschool feel entitled to free parking on a plot of land that neither owns.
It's almost like every problem in every city ends up being because of cars. I'm starting to think that maybe cars are bad.
Cars make people DERANGED.
Has Rudy Rucker assaulted anyone over parking lately?
