Due to recent events, a lot of people are joining the Mastodon™ Network™ leading to a lot of discussions that may get overwhelming at times.
Thankfully, Mastodon™ has a solution to hide specific topics: word filters.
First, open the settings in the sidebar of your genuine Mastodon™ instance. Then scroll down until you see the item "word mutes".
Here you can add topics you don't want to see in your timeline. Feel free to copy the topics from our screenshot for some reasonable defaults!
Happy turkey day! Or obesity day if you ask some people... #thanksgiving #food

i mean, it's _supposed_ to be that way- but clearly isn't always the case.

apparently transparency is hard.
what's harder than that is communicating with others.
hopefully the civil dialogue grows and more people get involved until a resolution results.

If you're talking ugly politics at a family dinner table during a time where you're supposed to express thankfulness for what you have in life...
you do not have enough family to fuel holiday family drama
@kate

@pluralistic PSA: The IRS actually has a program called VITA where they provide grants and training for volunteer tax preparers to assist folks making under $60k in filing their taxes for free. As long as you meet the income requirements, they can handle some pretty complex tax situations. It's been a few years since I volunteered, but I recall one year when the organizer sent us a summary showing how many millions of dollars of tax refunds we had processed that otherwise would have gone through these predatory companies. It was a good feeling.

If you think it’s horrible one billionaire bought up the public square and killed it, wait until you find out why your city doesn’t have a trolley system
Sophisticated to me is an establishment that is confident enough to not provide menus.
@cafkafk
sounds just short of sophisticated ;)

if you're on #qoto , you'll see a lot of both sides of the fence. We don't wall-garden by default here. Accurate scientific studies requires not to cherry-pick data.
I will not pursue the politics further here, but if there are complaints against our server/users- I can try to assist and/or redirect from there.
@Stellar
funnily, i know who you're talking about
sounds like a smart person
