1) join a irc channel on matrix

2) start a DM to set your nick
@appservice:libera.chat

3) Now auth your nick
!username irc.libera.chat <your NickServ username>

4) Now store your pass
!storepass irc.libera.chat <your password>

If you're hosting your own local server, yes- otherwise, it's easy to create a new channel/chat. Discord doesn't allow you to host your own server, so you would be just creating the same thing anyway.

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing- I've never heard of anyone paying to use Matrix.

I suppose since you're trying to target a larger audience, using Discord would be the most sensible option. This last reason is enough in itself to justify not using Matrix- so I guess the previous 2 are moot point anyway. Sorry to have wasted your time.

I gotta build back up to that point- but haven't been running for a while cuz of the insane heat and constant smoke in the air.

Currently 96*F at 4pm on a Saturday. I wish it were 30* less- or at least 20*...
