A former Meta employee said he received a bizarre package from his old company labeled "leaver" one month after being laid off from the tech giant.
Researcher Matt Motyl was laid off from Meta in November despite exceeding expectations in performance reviews, he said. In December, the company sent him a box without a note containing two rubber cards displaying emojis — one "wow" face and one "sad" face — with cords attached.

The "we cannot do a journalism without quote tweets" argument is ... I'm sorry, it's the *worst* rationalization for that feature I have seen so far. My catty response would be, "Wow! You mean journalism was invented in the year 2015? Amazing!"
My even cattier response would be that, here, on this site, I covered a "straight pride" parade turning into a police riot. I was posting, complete with CWs, with the taste of pepper spray in my throat.
Find. A. Better. Argument.

Ahh, I see. Repurposing a niche open-source language into a closed-source solution.
"Based around our cross-platform Dyalog APL interpreter, we provide development tools, interfaces and application components, tutorials and training materials designed to get you started and keep you productive using APL.
Dyalog APL itself is not open source, but it is free under Microsoft Windows, macOS X and Linux for educational and non-commercial use, including evaluation for potential commercial use. "
Fair enuf. Now, I'm just curious why they chose APL in particular.

I would be very curious as to how they've been implementing APL into
"management software to image processing, access control, attendance registration, digital video surveillance systems and X-ray inspections, " in such a way that would be more efficient than would be done in other languages.
