If you used the internet in the US in the early 90s, your traffic was handled by Trans Witches! (A TRANSWITCH chip was part of every interface board on the NSFnet's experimental T3 routers.)
Armchair theorists and cubicle spectators are not practitioners. People who practice well, learn just as well by questioning what they do- as they do actually practicing.

>> Doesn't know business
>> starts a business with help and loans
>> business fails and goes into bankruptcy. Online people say "this is normal"
>> keep smile and say everythings ok. People hate you for swindling
>> get sued for fraud, letter says go to court
>> ask online people 'wtf?!'

People like to pretend reality is virtual and virtual reality is real. It's more comforting for peasants to think they have control over their lives when they deliberately brainwash themselves into warped realities that they can manipulate.
More like, they can't comprehend.

By definition, criminals are criminals because there are laws. Making it illegal would just create more criminals out of otherwise innocent people.
But by all means, let's go down the rabbit hole of cryptography as it bleeds into individual rights and make it illegal for people to look, speak or.act different from each other- for fear there might be a secret subtle tell they share amongst each other.

It's even better for innocent people wanting to stay safe from criminals!

Encryption is heavily interwoven with our current everyday technology. We depend on encryption for everything- from credit card transactions, web browsing, to emails and product licensing keys for software and services.
Outlawing encryption is one of the most stupid ideas to still be spun around by bureaucracy.
16k? So... Like a couple hours a week?
125k? So we'll past 3x the minimum wage?
Basically, "we'll pay you whatever we feel like and expect no questions"... some people must either be stupid or desperate. Considering the homelessness ATM... Another conjecture could be made...
