But can we connect ST7789 Display in 3-Wire, 9-bit Mode ... And pack the 9-bit data into 8-bit SPI? 🤔

@lupyuen @freemo I wonder then if maybe they simply have a loose partnership and they are a company that just runs themselves. I hope so. I really like their ereaders a lot.

@loke It's interesting to watch the implications on Alibaba and other big Chinese companies

@lupyuen Interesting. As much as I am not a fan of the heavy-handed way in which China controls the Internet, I'm not entirely against trying to control this particular aspect.

This seems much more like marketing than regular "streaming", and marketing should probably be controlled.

@loke Oh yes Chinese live streamers are incredibly popular with online shoppers, even in Singapore...

@lupyuen So this refers to streamers "who market products on online shopping platforms".

Is there a lot of marketing going on among Chinese streamers? So if you're doing a product promotion as part of the video, then you'd be covered by these rules?

@lupyuen Yikes. It feels like we cannot trust any company to back its users these days.

@freemo @lupyuen yeah, I think you're right. I really need to look into it further. I am surprised that a company owned by or partnered with Walmart is promoting open source so blatantly on their website...

I can't remember exactly how they are tied to Walmart... but I learned about it after I bought my Kobo ereader.

@lupyuen oh that is really cool. I haven't heard of Elm. Now you have me looking deeper into this. Thank you.
