What's the long-term impact of a social media hub of like-minded radicals, whipping themselves into fervor over threats real and imagined? We've already seen the results of that once. What happens in round 2?

A lot of people are moving to @Mastodon, but I also get a lot of misconceptions and questions about how it works, and about this cool giant social network that is the #Fediverse, including @pixelfed or @peertube. So, to answer all these questions, and myabe introduce you to some other parts of the Fediverse, I think it's time for a quickstart guide!

Hello World!

Debian RC Tracker comes to Mastodon!

Come at me, Bookworm!

Can somebody please tell me that this is somehow engraved in the DNA of capitalism? All right, we have battery alliances now - but of course we won't have one battery standard for appliances and power tools but *at least two*.

"Cordless Alliance" https://www.cordless-alliance-system.de/

and

"Power4All Alliance"
https://www.powerforall-alliance.com/de/partner/

Both have 18V Li-Ion systems. Both could be compatible, but aren't.

@EU_Commission, please do something.

Have a look at the workshops program, journals and grants of the awesome 'The Company of Biologists', the not-for-profit UK charity run by practicing scientists

About a year ago I started using #RMarkdown and #Xaringan to prepare presentation and I love it. Efficient, elegant, saves disk space and allows you you to easily prepare slides with a very consistent layout and style.

For an example see:

You can use this repo https://github.com/JekelyLab/jekelylab.github.io to get started.

@leartius Ciao, I have missed just one World Cup in the last 40 years but I refuse to go to Qatar...

If you're running #php on #debian (as I am), there are security updates available for the php7.4-* packages. Upgrade now!

libreboot and osboot are now one. everything libreboot had, went in osboot, then i osboot into libreboot

libreboot is now osboot, but under libreboot brand. it is superior, because osboot is superior!

website will update later, and osboot will redirect. i got someone doing it.

Anyone in my network have a recommendation on where I can buy used #thinkpads for the purpose of putting #Linux on for my kids? Not ebay and craigslist. Wondering anywhere else?

Receptive to other low cost #Linux laptop options too.

Max budget $300.

I'm currently working on the osboot/libreboot merger that I alluded to in the last Libreboot release. I'm about 40% done as I write this, and I started today!

Osboot is becoming part of Libreboot. The projects are merging and will operate as one, under current osboot policy.

Current osboot policy shall be known unofficially as:

Pragmatic System Distribution Guidelines

or just PSDG for short

new libreboot release soon
