It seems to have been updated from the previous version. And yes, it is crazier than what I last saw there.

Is this the "What we believe" section on their site?

@joey_zozo As much as I agree with the overall common goals of the BLM protesters, it would have been better if they had protested online and done damage via hacking/DDOS/phishing/phone spam/etc. instead. If I were on the channel where the first protest was being arranged, I would have immediately looked for someone to give those tools to them.
While reopening is undoubtedly the cause of the latest spikes, I am still looking with worried eyes at Minnesota.

@joey_zozo I'm so sorry to hear that. My condolences to your brother and his wife.

@joey_zozo Speaking of red states, my mother is quite concerned about what is going on in much of the US, to the point that she no longer looks at the COVID map on JHU because it is more anxiety-provoking than informative for her.

@joey_zozo Also, my parents are boomers by age, but they are compassionate people who chose lower paying generalist positions in medicine to help more people more effectively. They made money by investing, saving, and not spending lavishly or needlessly as other people in their income bracket would. They saved up for their kids' college from the moment they were born, advocated for their children when necessary but did not helicopter parent, and overall while not perfect did a still-excellent job of parenting.

Needless to say, "Not all boomers" in the normally encountered sarcastic sense isn't a sentiment I agree with.

@joey_zozo I live in Upstate New York, and I'm starting to get impression that the boomers here are mostly the ones that remained after the money-hungry self-absorbed ones left for the West Coast and red states.

@joey_zozo I did see your post on the boomer cashier, but after several years I've gotten the impression that the generation gap in red states is a wider, toothier maw than the one in New York State.

@joey_zozo This was not you actually. It was someone I followed on a different account.
If you want to I can DM you their weird page on a different server. You'll likely dislike them.

Have you ever had this happen?

1. You like/comment/RT a post on Mastodon from someone.
2. They like/comment/RT, have a conversation, and follow you.
3. You follow them back.
4. Their next post is something you don't feel comfortable with, not because it's factually wrong or bad taste or whatever, but because it seems...wrong. (This person as it turns out, hates old people.).
5. You click on their profile. You immediately wonder: who the fuck are you following?

A week ago my mother and I agreed to help each other with dumping some bad habits.
* I would dump Twitter and a certain toxic Mastodon account.
* Mom would dump Facebook, Twitter, CNN, and the coronavirus map at JHU she has been checking compusively.
A week in, I've dumped Twitter and don't follow that one account on Mastodon anymore. Guess who just responded to a friend's question on Facebook?

@Sphinx Even with black bears, you should be careful. And never go between a mother bear and her cubs.

@Sphinx Black bears are quite scared of people, dogs, etc. Hence why this one (a relatively young one) went up a tree rather than deal with our dogs.

@Sphinx When I went outside and saw it, I was taken aback a little.
They're increasingly common where I live because the area mostly returned to forest after most of the old inefficient farms went belly-up in the 1930's, and that forest is starting to mature.

On June 30, my family's two golden retrievers treed an animal, which isn't unusual. What was unusual was the particular animal they treed...
