@imgn Honestly I would just give it time. People are leaving and it takes time to unlearn old habits.
@FailForward @freemo @unamanic Yes. I've been looking forward to this since April.
It's only been a week, but it feels like a month, and yet I am giddy with excitement and laughing rather than wanting the experience to end. In short, watching Twitter die makes me feel like I'm a child again!

@PastaThief
D'awwwwwwwww! That's so freaking cute!!
@freemo It looks like a variation on italic, possibly a form designed specifically for the movie.
@slothrop Prior to my return to Twitter to show people the exit ramps, I mostly used Nitter. I also have my ViolentMonkey extension set up to disable that stupid login prompt if I'm logged out.
Of the two options, I'd most recommend Nitter.

Excellent piece on why "#FreeSpeech" on social media is an unsolvable problem. I've managed small social sites and mailing lists. Everything here is true.
@oligneisti
My mother was interested in counter.social. I warned her away from it after digging up the story about how they broke off from Fediverse.
Anyone who deliberately lies like that, whether about open source licenses or any other subject, for something that self-serving and petty isn't trustworthy.
As for the other stuff they've done: can someone fill me in? I'd love to hear other people's stories about counter.social and the person who runs it.
I remember when diaspora* got early traction back a decade+ ago, and being enthralled by the concept. When I learned about Friendica/GNU Social, decentralized social media felt like it was maturing. When Mastodon found its early footing, it started to feel inevitable.
I started my instance in 2017 and, even during the slow times, I never lost that feeling. The past two waves of birdsite exodus have really felt like the start of a new chapter in all of this, where the inevitable becomes reality.
