@gwensnyder what do you mean by intentional friction? Asking from genuine curiosity. If that has been debated at other points im happy for a pointer.

To all the people who “don’t see race” or are “colour blind” or “a-racial”.
Stop it.
Just stop.
I am damn proud to be Black.
Being Black is cool as shit.
I love my black skin.
The music is awesome.
The food rocks. The jokes are hilarious. The fellowship is healing.
I want everybody to fully see and celebrate my expression of Blackness.
What I don’t want,
is to be fucked over by a system that cannot handle the glory of people being different.
The "buy my book to screw Jeff Bezos" sale has had a change.
UK hardcovers are now back to full price, not $5 each. But they're still selling Kindle versions for less than they'll pay me for them. If you buy a hardcover in the US, getting the book costs them $15 more than they're charging you.

Fair enough. I may reach out to them from another instance I am on, though it won't be quick
Wow, quite the impressive outburst from our local star over these last 12+ hours! 6 flares and counting.
Still a chance of seeing an X-class before it's all over too. I haven't yet heard anything about associated CMEs, but I would be extremely surprised if we didn't see at least one.
Things are really cracklin'! 😁 ☀️

I remember seeing something about this earlier. (or maybe a similar indecent, I'm sure it happens more then I realize)
But reading this made my heart sink. Or maybe it was just a realization that clicked for me now, that for some reason hadn't clicked for me earlier. And might also be a good example of what is preventing back people form joining. (and what needs to be reflected on)
What happened to her has an effect on what you (and others) feel comfortable posting here.
Even if someone ends up on a "good" instance. The racism and harassment seen on other instances, and the actions of moderators on other instance, is going to effect on how comfortable/safe POC are interacting in this space.
When mentioning Texas AG Ken Paxton, one of the very FIRST things you should do is tell your audience about Paxton's criminal behavior.
Paxton has two felony indictments for securities fraud.

He's also currently under investigation by the FBI for abuse of office & the American Bar Association has threatened to disbar him for unethical behavior.
@mgeist That's not good.
What is it with the Canadian House of Commons and passing lousy Internet bills all of a sudden?
NEW: Asbestos and many other toxic substances are banned in other countries but not here in the U.S.
The EPA has admitted it is behind on all of its current chemical regulations and that it would likely “not get more than a handful of those rules on the books before 2025 or beyond.”
Sharon Lerner, Kathleen McGrory and I took a look at why the country has become a global laggard in chemical regulation.
