It was clear from the start that Massachusetts' latest right to
repair initiative would pass. Yet the manufacturers are crying that
they’ve been asleep at the wheel, and will need years to comply with this incredibly popular law.

@Gina I agree entierly. I love difference of opinon, thats how we grow and learn, even if we dont change our opinions.

Its really what I love about the Dutch to be honest and why I moved there. Most americans, particularly liberals but also non-liberals, will have a complete meltdown over a difference of opinion, even minor ones. Not only can you not be civil after that, they will actively be aggressive and seek it out, its horrible. The Dutch know how to disagree, even strongly disagree, and not make it personal unless it is really justified. Obviously if i was a legitimate hateful racist you'd probably judge me, and should.

A president who is unwilling to make a concession speech is a president who aims for a coup. Without a party that has apparently lost even the last shred of democratic dignity and backbone, it would be nothing but a final smudge at the end of a painful episode before the necessary basic political cleanup begins. But with the support of this party it opens the gates to a state crisis with an uncertain outcome.

i— wow. this is some bullshit, trying to justify surveillance capitalism. literally 0 closed-source, bigtech product has improved my productivity in any meaningful way. if anything, i’ve only found them to hamper my ability to get work done.

>ProtonMail yeah, that’s a you problem. don’t use shit services like ProtonMail; i have full text search in my email because i can download it via IMAP.

and re: that last bit about interoperability—um what? since when are data mining walled gardens INTEROPERABLE lmao. what are you even saying?!

The EU Council is pushing for encryption backdoors to messenger apps such as WhatsApp and Signal to fight terrorism (German article): fm4.orf.at/stories/3008930/

Despite the fact that errors of investigation in Austrian authorities had made the attack possible in the first place and not a lack of digital surveillance powers. Politicians must start to understand that more surveillance will not lead to more security. That's why we fight any attempt for an encryption backdoor: tutanota.com/blog/posts/why-a-

@Demosthenes Yes thats true.. like I said other forms of voting encourage a break from two-party entrenchment. so yea if you have a nation prone to latching on to a two-party fallacy mentality then other voting systems do a better job at protecting against that. I think we agree on that idea then.

But it is important for people to know there is no two party system as it stands now other than the illusion of one. There is no logical or reasonable reason one should vote two-party, your vote is no more effective in doing so.

An American President attacking American democracy in advance of an election has simply never been seen before. But Donald Trump continues to do it every day, in the final run-up to November 3rd. nyer.cm/B1BXcoP

"[The #Trump Presidency] is self-dealing, denialism, dishonesty, and deflection. It is narcissism, recklessness, and disregard for the public good—and for democracy itself."

Is this ringing any deafeningly loud bells, India?
