@atomicpoet YMS did a 2.5 hour deep dive into this topic. It's a really good video if you have some time to kill

Disney is definitely a soulless corporation that used public domain material to make some of their most iconic films and then actively prevents people from doing the same now.
@atomicpoet As much as I dislike Disney, and as much as I'm always up for calling out blatant rip offs, in this particular instance this accusations has been thoroughly debunked.
The Youtuber Your Movie Sucks made an excellent video essay going through each of the levied accusations against the Lion King in excrutiating detail.
Not having a go at you or anything, I'm just a fan of critical thinking, and don't like seeing common misconceptions spread needlessly.

How well do you know the Online Safety Bill?
Graham Smith presents:
“a miscellany of statements about the Bill: familiar slogans and narratives, a few random assertions, some that I have dreamed up to tease out lesser-known features. True, false, half true, indeterminate?”

I’ve been using Mastodon since Saturday, but I am going out on a limb with a prediction: Mastodon (or the Mastodon model) is the future of social media.
It has the potential of curing the worst evils of social media and creating a genuine and workable public sphere.
I will develop this idea into an essay as soon as I can grab the time, hopefully today.

It's deeply frustrating watching my friends who ought to know better—journalists, tech policy people, etc.—acknowledging that Twitter's on the outs, but then getting excited about moving to yet another closed, proprietary platform.
@evangreer Which "global human right" involves access to Twitter?
Let it burn. It's just a service offered by a company. There are other companies and other services people can use.
Trying to forward to people interested in #MindBrainEducation
If you're worried that this could be mistaken for nuclear launches, don't. A lot of the munitions launched so far were already dual-capable. And in practice, unless there's a massive launch towards EU capitals or the United States itself, none of the nuclear powers will be sitting at the football wondering whether to launch-on-warning. They'll always wait for it to land and then decide later. So at least that's off the table.
I’ve had a lot of people ask me recently why not stay on Twitter and fight.
The reason is because Musk controls the algorithm. He could ban you tomorrow, and he could also just deprioritize every one of your tweets so no one sees them.
You can’t fight and win when the opponent has complete control over the field of conflict.

US ‘politics’
‘Kanye West announces 2024 presidential bid - BBC News
‘West said his request for a running mate left the former president, who recently launched his own re-election campaign, "most perturbed".
In a video titled Mar-A-Lago Debrief, West claimed: "Trump started basically screaming at me at the table, telling me I'm going to lose. Has that ever worked for anyone in history?"’
Since Mastodon saw its initial popularity circa 2017, I've noticed that most users and those reporting on it either don't think about the Fediverse as anything more than Mastodon, or treat its history as beginning with Eugen Rochko and the beginning of Mastodon. In fact, Mastodon is the latest in a long line of federated social networks, going at least back to Identi.ca, and though I wasn't around for all of it,I find this history pretty interesting. (Thread; boosts welcome!)

Having tracked Fuentes for years, let me note this as a reporter: he is well-known inside the GOP. People can pretend otherwise but professionals who work in the party are highly aware of how his white supremacy and anti-Semitism influences some voters, esp on fringe platforms.

Jesus Fuckbuttering Christ Mastodon users.
The amount of dipshit reply guys to someone saying they're experiencing harassment/abuse shouldn't be:
"You should find a better instance"
"You can mute, block and fediblock them"
"You're being difficult"
"You should read all the block lists for other instances and follow those"
"You should use different hashtags"
"I haven't experienced any harassment or problems and I've been here for years"
"You should create filters and a central list so everyone can find it"
"Don't complain unless you're willing to solve the problem"
Those are a few of the replies I've received, in addition to being told:
"You should be shot in the uterus"
"You should be more careful"
"You should unalive yourself"
"You should be killed"
"You're a whore"
There's a few more vile things to add to that list, but you get the idea.
My point is this, content moderation and centralized reporting is something that should be considered.
I understand it won't stop all the harassment, but it might give a better way of tracking the problems.
I am not/not volunteering to spearhead it because I already handle enough of this shit in my personal and business life.
I don't have the spoons, or fucks left.
