"Online spaces have seen a rise in anti-sex and anti-kink rhetoric. They believe that sexual or kink content leads to a rise in “degeneracy” and people who consume that content are predators." https://buff.ly/3fYOkOY
I'm beside myself.
Someone created a finger-to-WordPress gateway.
Remember Macstodon, the Mastodon client for Classic Mac OS?
This is even nerdier than that.
The thing I miss most about #science isn't doing it, it's being able to dream collaboratively.
I really miss being around other nerds who are just as happy as I am to jump into flights of speculative fancy together and bat around ideas until maybe a good one comes out that can be followed up on and tested.
Surely there are other places to find this kind of thing. It's just that for the past 7 years (scary) science was this for me, so now is the first time I have to seek it out actively.
The EU, UK, and various states are pushing "protect the children!" laws that will effectively mandate age verification technologies for most websites.
Turns out the French data protection agency (which doesn't mess around) has said that all existing age verification technologies violate people's privacy...
Jiang zemin, the chairman of #china from 1993 to 2003, died today. As one of the most liberal figures inside CCP, he supported marketing reform and promoted joining WTO. Additionally, he guaranteed a certain degree of expression freedom. Those ten years when he was incumbent became the best golden old days for us to mourn after PRC’s establishment. After 2008, China witnessed a severe regression in civil liberty and became more belligerent in the global community.

"The parents of a teenage Mississippi rape victim had to travel more than 500 miles to help their daughter obtain an abortion in Illinois, WAPT’s Megan West reported. The family told the local Jackson anchor that they learned their daughter was pregnant three days beyond Mississippi’s legal limit of six weeks." https://journa.host/@msfreepress/109429598312986151

"The first drug to slow the destruction of the brain in Alzheimer's has been heralded as momentous and historic.
The research breakthrough ends decades of failure and shows a new era of drugs to treat Alzheimer's - the most common form of dementia - is possible.
Yet the medicine, lecanemab, has only a small effect and its impact on people's daily lives is debated.
And the drug works in the early stages of the disease, so most would miss out without a revolution in spotting it."

Hey Press! Stop calling it "Mastodon's Fediverse network"!
Possession implies ownership.
Mastodon doesn't own the Fediverse.
The Fediverse can't be owned.
The Fediverse would exist without Mastodon. And it will continue to exist if Mastodon stops working.
Please do your do your due diligence before reporting on things.

I think now is a good time to point out that those of us who love space and #SpaceX realize that SpaceX is successful due to the many people that actually comprise the workforce there, and has little to nothing to do with #ChiefTwit himself.
