#OnThisDay, 28 Nov 1967, PhD student Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovers the existence of pulsars.

Not included in the 1974 Nobel prize for the discovery, Bell received a £3m prize for her work in 2018. She's using it to set up a foundation to improve diversity in STEM.

New discovery: 15 burials of the early #medieval period discovered during excavations in Kleinbasel. The pictures show a gold disk fibula (decorative pin to fasten garments/brooch) found in a woman's grave and a silver inlaid belt fitting from a child's grave. Dating 7th century AD.

Silver inlaid #runes on an early #medieval iron spearhead, found in a burial at Wurmlingen, dating late 6th century AD. The inscription reads DORIH - Dorich, a male name, probably the name of the owner or the blacksmith.
