@pluralistic reminds us that the "Luddites" were a group of people demanding human rights and the means to work to sustain themselves and their families. But history it written by the winners, the Luddites lost, and their detractors have made the meaning of the name to be "opposition to scientific and technological progress." But smashing the steam powered looms that robbed them of their livelihood "was their strategy, not their goal." With AI getting more and more powerful by the month, and people losing their jobs en-masse as a direct result, we are about to see a repeat this chapter of history.
