I get a lot of questions about my research so I’ve decided to host a substack (newsletter) focused solely on that. 

“Unelected Representative” is about the people we don’t see in Congress responsible for decisions about science issues shaping our lives. It will weave together new research with theory + insight from senior R & D staff.

Why? Publishing in journals alone limits access. This will let us discuss ideas more widely.

@MrFarland Have you tried using the gamethinking framework (Amy Jo Kim's work)? It works great for me to keep the big picture without getting lost in the wees!

@MrFarland Here's an example of how I use it. Simply a high level framework in the form of user stories throughout a product lifecycle.

I loved the little Twitter home I carved out over the years. It made it quick and easy to consume information about issues I'm interested in, but I appreciated the occasional banter about trivial bullshit, too. That said, I've never been afraid of starting over or building new communities, so here we are. I just need to build up some healthy chatter around traffic and weather in #austintexas, strategies for ending #homelessness, ways to manage #parkinsons, and tips for how not to kill teenagers.

Officially erased my bird site presence this morning and with it my associated contacts. I haven't seen a wide-scale migration yet of the #weather / #wxtwitter community, which accounted for half of my Twitter contacts.

As a sort of final #introduction post and calling card for the weather community, one of my primary uses of Twitter was to share my #WeatherPhotography and #storm reports. I'll probably continue to share weather and #climate content here! CW's as needed. Some of my faves below.

I see lots of people musing about starting their own smaller instances. Gonna link again the step-by-step beginners guide I wrote for doing just that, Mastodon or Hometown. Mainly because I would love to see a stranger actually try it and get some new small instances on the go! Trying thus out would be a great activity for the upcoming winter break many people have!
