The most effective leaders know they can't (and shouldn't) do everything on their own. Building capacity in others is paramount. Thus, they look to hire people smarter than them and then get out of their way #edutoot #edutooters #edutooter #education #leadership #digilead

I give a professional training course to help teachers create their own #seriousgame and I'm always sooo impressed with the results. 😍
After just one day of training and a few months of working on their own, look at these amazing prototypes!

Twitter Travesties

Twitter is working on plans to force some users to agree to data sharing or lose access to the app in a bid to save its ad business businessinsider.com/twitter-pl

Privacy concerns, Bird site

In light of this potential privacy violation, I would rather delete my account on the bird site completely. The conventional wisdom has been to keep the account open to avoid identity theft (even if not using it actively). What now? techdirt.com/2022/12/14/twitte

🚨 SAVE YOUR STUFF 🚨

If you post research to Twitter and have not had a chance to archive or save your posts, now is a good time to do so. I expect the recent TOS updates to disproportionately affect activists even more than we've already experienced.
Here are some tools for archiving:

Download friend lists and last 3200 tweets:
tweetbeaver.com

Extensions for grabbing all the media off of Twitter accounts for Firefox and Chrome:
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef

chrome.google.com/webstore/det

Archive important threads here:
web.archive.org/save

archive.today

Most tweets after late 2019 are automatically saved to the Wayback Machine and can be retrieved with tools like this (requires API access): github.com/travisbrown/cancel-

Older threads will need additional attention.

If anyone is migrating to Mastodon and wants a list of your friends from Twitter to auto connect with: movetodon.org/

I also recommend using Fedifinder or Debirdify and exporting the CSV just for account verification later even if you don't plan on following people today.
Note: you can look up Mastodon friends of accounts other than your own with Debirdify.

We do have some research account backups saved from a few weeks ago but if you have posted anything important that needs to be preserved externally please grab it.

Thoughtworks Podcast: Welcome to the fediverse: Exploring Mastodon, ActivityPub and beyond >>> thoughtworks.com/insights/podc

For many who have been part of the recent migration of users from Twitter to Mastodon, their first encounters with the "fediverse" have been puzzling, even disorienting. [In this] bonus episode of the Technology Podcast, Birgitta Böckeler digs into the technology and culture of Mastodon.

@morekindness @Dr_Elizabeth97 It's simple. Your home feed shows you every post, boost and reply from the people you follow and hashtags you follow when the poster posts, boosts or replies, and you can turn off boosts and/or replies by clicking the little adjuster thing settings icon in the top right.

That's it. Nothing fancy at all. You are in complete control of what content you see.

For those interested in the use of AI in education (including a section on ethical challenges), there is a new open access book by Springer called “AI in Learning: Designing the Future”, edited by Hannele Niemi, Roy Pea, and Yu Lu:

It’s challenging to capture students’ attention in the days before break. Shapegrams can keep their interest with KOALA-tea drawing with technology lessons. 👍

I moved from @eduGOOGdroid@educator.social

I'm looking to connect with #EsportsEdu 🎮 & #EdTech communities. I would appreciate recommendations of who to follow in Esports for Education 🕹️🍏.

I would love to have guest bloggers on my website. Let me know.

As of this post, I'm about to finish my M.Ed. in EdTech. Instead of Mr.G, I'll be Master G.

Most of the basics of me are on my profile @eduGOOGdroid which is the same on other social networks

hope I’m not spamming, I built a few goodies for Mastodon — share button, follow button, embed timeline — fo.llow.social/goodies useful for people like me that have a blog/newsletter and also very active on Mastodon, could be interesting for your follows, and happy to answers any questions you have

Hi. I'm a scientist and programmer based in Basel, Switzerland. I'm a long-time advocate of #OpenSource and #OpenScience and am the primary developer of the #RDKit.

#introduction

Tip I wish I'd learned earlier: follow #hashtags. Here's how:

1. Type your hashtag into search (e.g. #introduction )

2. Click the specific best hit in the results.

3. Click the little person with a + symbol on them to follow that hashtag as if it were an account.

Great way to find #newusers from the #twittermigration and posts relevant to your interests!
