Getting started with #mastodon and being an #edutooter #edtech

I'm wondering how many fellow #edutooters are leaving the bird site.

“I don’t think there’s a school district in America that doesn’t have important digital assets sitting on a computer somewhere that needs to be protected,” said Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cybersecurity Alliance. “We know schools sometimes don’t like to report incidents. Responding right away and bringing in law enforcement should be encouraged.” blog.tcea.org/cybersecurity-re

Update now! Multiple vulnerabilities patched in Google Chrome.” It’s a headline that you encounter with surprising regularity. Here are a few more from May to July 2022. Each is sure to chill any IT Director’s heart. blog.tcea.org/seven-tips-secur

@wikimedialibrarians Test post. I am double checking that my post setting reflects PUBLIC post visibility.

Pretty soon @TheConversationUS will have more followers on #mastodon after 9 days than we have accumulated on TikTok in 18 months.

Could you help us get to 1159 by boosting this toot and telling your friends about the work we do?

“To the extent that people remain active on Twitter, they preserve the viability of Musk’s gambit. The illusory sense of community that still lingers on the platform is one of Musk’s most significant assets. No matter which side prevails, the true victor in any war is the person selling weapons to both sides.”

What does it mean to teach history with integrity today given our divided politics? I was thrilled to be part of this AHA-sponsored discussion about what historians need to teach and why. Do we have the courage to speak truth, even when doing so is unpopular? #everythinghasahistory #histodons

A lot of people really love(d) Twitter and when they exhort people to “stay and fight” they imagine it can be restored by doing so. The problem is it is already gone. Musk successfully destroyed it in a couple of weeks.

And you can’t fight his ownership of the platform or the fact that he’s aligning with far-right extremists. The best thing to do is let it crumble.

Hello all,
Please boost this toot to spread it around.
The link is to a formal logic textbook which I have been compiling and expanding. I have been the only one editing/fact-checking it, so I would love to have other eyes look it over or even play-test it in the classroom. It also has an OER and open-source course companion, Carnap.io, if you would like to use that.
