Well yeah it's normally less then 30°C all year up there in Matheran.
It becomes a green paradise in the rainy season (actual all of Western Ghat become a paradise in the rainy season)
Matheran also has it's special looks when the fog sets in there, giving it a different world look, perfect place to shoot any horror movie

That's why when the British captured India, they established many Hill-Stations (small green beautiful towns on mountains surrounded by forests) so that they can cool off from the heat here. The Western Ghats have alot of Hill-Stations.
One of the Hill-station near my town is Matheran (pictured), the narrow-gauge railway of Matheran is an UNESCO world heritage

I follow many travellers who go through countries by hitchhiking and couchsurfing, The only main expense remains the visas (or flights if needed, though land transport is cheaper)

Three PhDs graduated from my lab this year. I'm so proud of them all!! but it hurts to see them go-- not being able to give them a congratulatory hug and a handshake, to celebrate as a group and tell the stories about "remember when...". I'll be back in the lab next fall, I expect, and none of the faces who were there in 2014 or 2015 will be there any more, their desks will be cleaned out and their laptops turned in. I may have to blow my nose and wipe my eyes when I see that. 😥

Many people think the elephants in #Tsavo are red in colour but I want to assure you that they always bathe with red volcanic soil of the area.
