Actually there are 7 security forces collectively termed as Central Armed Police Forces. CRPF is one them as well as there is Central Industrial Security Force [CISF](Exclusively used for protecting government structures), Border Security Force[BSF] (For guarding the borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh), Indo-Tibetan Border Police[ITBP] (For guarding the borders with China, differs from BSF as ITBP is directly controlled by RAW which is the primary intelligence agency of India).

Here each state have their own police force as well as more military like special forces. The central government has the Central Reserved Police Force which are a paramilitary force used to protect nationally important properties like airports, ports, government buildings, etc as well as they are deployed on the request of the states in case of riots or any disturbance which the police can't handle.
