Well as for most neurological disorders, handling them is very different then handling a physical disorder. The mental stability part is significant as well as the social pressure to live like other normal people which is also the reason to give stimulants and atomoxetines (like Strattera) comes in, their job is to suppress the brain activity.

whenever i tell people that my big brother is severely handicapped, as in...
- cerebral paresis
- blind
- wheelchair bound
- non-verbal
...i.e. what is less politely described as a "vegetable", they always say "oh, that must be terrible!"
and, well, of course it was terrible for my parents to have to come to terms with that. many tears and uphill struggles.
but he was my big brother. he was always that way. that's just who my big brother was, and you know how it is with kids. whatever they grow up with is normal.
i remember having a new friend over for the first time, and my brother was going "uhh... uhh... uuuuuhhhhhh" and rocking back and forth in his wheelchair as he usually does, and my friend kind of looked sideways and said "uhm..." and i had to tell him it's just how it is, this is normal for me, etc.
