I never said about breaking toe nails it just that when you are in a wild environment dealing with stones and other rough surfaces the nail very slowly gets weared out on the edge. so basically it trims the nail in the long run. Also in nature it doesn't matters your nails are a little bigger if they grow too much big to hinder with your daily abilities then you would just die off or be hunted down (natural selection)

Well yes there are alot of tools in technical drawing which were used widely in the past when everything was drawn by hand, now you won't gonna find this tools anywhere apart from colleges

You forgot we come from apes so our main survival strategy in wild is climbing (not necessarily trees but anything) ofcourse you gonna use your nails while climbing which in turn would trim them in the long run
