British saw it as something amazing that's why we were colonized. That's for all colonizers and colonies.
The thing is what you all see as exotic and appealing to you is also the very thing we see as making us poor and backward.

First pic: All those buildings are schools (government funded ones) and this the ground where local cricket matches happens as well as other events. Also helicopters land on this ground when top politicians come to the town.

Last pic: I intentionally added that pic coz I knew that was the exotic you were talking about . In my perspective as well as many other locals this is just clearly visible poverty, corruption, ill planning, and everything that makes us backward. Dirty chicken shops and cages stained with blood, poop and dirt (I think it's good that they kill and cut the chicken in front of you coz in the supermarket you just think it's a packed clean meat not imagining it's origins). That vehicle with three wheel locally called autorickshaw (Tuk Tuk in south east asia) just shows that people here are too poor to afford to buy a car(Taxi) for business.

Though I find the nature here the more exotic stuff filled with the most fascinating creature that can kill you 😉
