I am of the old generation (19 years old) then it was no where compared to what it is now.
In 2 decade the pope has slowly imposed numerous new laws and rules and taxes. Kids are now heavily hammered and brainwashed according to the communities principle. Also one of the senior popes representative who came to our house (they go to peoples house to see they are living how pope says them to live) said to not do business with other people (hindus, christians, etc) and also he got enraged when I said I am doing computer science cause you know it is science
