Please understand, I am speaking as someone who in the past few months was triggered, legitimately, to the point where I could no longer function, by un-CWed content.

I had filters (plural) in place, and my feed is already heavily curated, but some individuals managed to bypass those (in one case, by using emoji letters to spell out their message) to make it so I had to log off and stop using Mastodon until I recovered.

The polite thing is to use a CW.

Putting the pressure on those who need the CWs to act so that the impolite can feel better about being impolite is not a conversation that I, personally, wish to continue to discuss.

The norm is to CW uspol posts.

Some of my friends are encountering physical health issues from the stress of following uspol events, so maybe give them the opportunity to avoid that without blocking/muting you.

Keep in mind that the problem is not rioting the US capitol.

The problem is white supremacy. The problem is fascism.
The problem is that black folks are being shot dead for peacefully protesting and asking for their basic human rights to stay alive and have a decent life while whyte supremacists can riot the capitol being applauded and taking pictures with cops without being dead after that.

Imagine, just imagine, if it was black folks who did this riot. If wouldn't have been 13 arrests.
