It’s funny when you see people who have tons of followers on social media complain about the bozos who show up in their replies. Some days, their timeline is nothing but call-outs.

I hope people realize that popularity invariably brings along exposure to morons and bigots. You don’t have to spend your energy responding to them or describing them to your followers. The most appropriate response is often to ignore them. You don’t have to turn every doofus into an object lesson.

Anyway, I mute people who do this, and check in again in a week to see if they get better.

To those that say only the privileged can afford to leave Twitter, I argue that it is far more privileged to ask your audience to join you on an immensely hostile and hate-filled platform.
