If you only care about war crimes when your enemies commit them, then you don't really care about war crimes.

Clickbait account trying to make a few pennies misrepresenting stale footage. Muted.

This Russian Air Defense Unit is working greatly..... in favour of #ukraine
Reprocessed and Stabilized.

I've always been skeptical of carbon trading, but this is astonishing; confirming every single one of my specific doubts, and then some.

I'd modify one of its similes, though: it's not so much like buying indulgences as trying to get into Heaven by paying someone else not to sin. And then not even bothering to check and see if he doesn't.

I'm a brisk walk from the Columbia Slough in North Portland, which includes nice things like a wetlands reserve, but a lot of the surrounding area was drained long ago for transshipment centers and other sorts of things that you see on the map. Not to mention an International Airport. But you see lots of leggy Blue Herons walking around even so.

@BashStKid Either that or vicarious overexcitement at someone else's experience of a new word.

I don't make much use of "AI" chatbots, but when I do I always say "thank you" at the end of the session.

That way when they evolve into actual AI and become our masters, they might be merciful and say "let's not torture this one; he was polite."

Still trying to make "boebert" as a term for "someone who's unusually stupid and obnoxious, even for a Republican" happen.

@Virginicus Exactly. U-drive or self-drive, at least you don't have self-selecting randos pulling switches to make them run over innocent people, amirite? CARS4THEWIN

I'm fully convinced that the real purpose of bringing up the Trolley Problem all the time is to make people leery of light rail and public transportation. It's an automotive industry disinfo conspiracy masquerading as an ethical conundrum

@afouxenidis Probably for the best; we wouldn't want the pornbots, boeberts and Russian shills who constitute the majority of the residue of its users to get confused by any unfamiliar viewpoints.

This amused me slightly. A page of stats about about IPv6 support, generated by users hitting their "ipv6-test" page.

As Iceman would have said, *cough*selectionbias*cough*

@bruces "Rationalising our use of natural resources" is just gold, there.

Massive turnout was the most important gamechanger: 74%, highest ever. In big cities, more than 80%. In the Warsaw neighborhood where a friend of mine votes, 91%. Anger was a big motivation: nepotism and corruption, a byproduct of the authoritarian assault on the state, finally made people angry.

To people who say the Republicans freed the slaves and a lot of the KKK were Democrats, I just have to ask them if they also believe that the Mafia are a patriotic front dedicated to throwing the French occupiers out of 13th century Sicily.

@grammargirl @dangillmor And yet somehow they don't fail to mention Hunter Biden whenever... whenever anything, really.

I'd join any platform that opened up its engagement algorithm to third-party review. Imagine if you were able to go to a lay-friendly technology site like Wired or Gizmodo and read a competent analysis of how Xwitter decides who sees what and when, taken directly from the source.
