Once you start seeing how much space we sacrifice for #cars, you can't unsee it. They have taken over our cities completely.
And they feel entitled and justified to every single space available. Given a chance, anything becomes a parking spot.
And if you dare speak up about it or oppose it, #motorists respond immediately with aggression, violent threats, racism and sometimes actual violence.
Don't dare advocate for a cycle lane, some space in the footpath for a wheelchair user, or a stroller.

If you have worked with namespaces in #logseq before v0.8.9, you should migrate your existing pages according to the "New file name rules" mentioned almost at the end of release note github.com/logseq/logseq/relea. Otherwise you might notice some weird behaviour with the pages in a namespace.

If people have not realized this by seeing Bill Gates being interviewed for years as if he were a Nobel Prize-winning physician epidemiologist then there is no hope.

@pedrosilva @logseq Logseq is so good. I’ve LITERALLY been searching Logseq for years.

Didn't expect to find so much people mentioning @logseq around here.
Looks like #pkm and #logseq are becoming a thing.

Just because it is Monday morning and the #TwitterMigration is still going on, it may be worth repeating that #science would do well to replace their antique journals with modern technology:
doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5526634
The three most important reasons why:
- The most prestigious journals publish the least reliable science:
frontiersin.org/articles/10.33
- Journal prices are tenfold inflated:
f1000research.com/articles/10-
- Open infrastructures for research data, code, models, software, etc. are sorely missing.

@davidrevoy that's really some dedication to help minorities with captions!

@cregox

Yeah, I have no idea how is so famous and so unknown, for me there is no comparison.

Are the Chinese not even able to use a translator like Google Translate or whatever they have in China when discussing a FOSS project for example in bug reports? It's just paraculaggine.

@s8n @rastinza

In Italian we have a term for those like this: paraculo.

The Chinese are a paraculo people.

@rastinza

Have you ever been to the rest of the world? It is like that for everyone, the Chinese are not special. Do you think for example that English and Italian are similar because we use the same alphabet? Well, they are totally different languages.

@rastinza

Same for the rest of the world, but in the context of FOSS we all try to write in English, no matter if it's bad.

Only the Chinese have this attitude and it's already problematic, imagine if everyone just start reporting bugs in their own language.

If it was for me, we would use that is designed for this, but English is the de facto standard for now.

Are we OK with people writing Chinese on and other platforms?
I mean, not in repos that can only be of interest to Chinese people, I mean in repos of public interest for all, where we usually write in .

Also sometimes even if a repo has the README in English, there are issues, pull requests, etc. in Chinese.

Is it only me finding it disrespectful? They may benefit from others who speak English (even those who are not native English speakers but strive) but we are left out when they speak Chinese? 😲

@koyuchan @dragnucs

is a protocol, you are talking about an implementation, Synapse on matrix.org, that is slow because 1. Synapse started as a proof of concept and will be replaced by Dendrite and others 2. it has many users and very large rooms.

Matrix is de facto a decentralized database which is transparent with respect to the disappearance or reappearance of nodes, like many colonies of living beings whose borders are bland because they can unite and separate continuously, but maintains the consistency of the data and allows users to interact with it in a granular way with a sort of built-in Access Control Lists.

If you ask me, Matrix is the evolution of TCP/IP Internet in the direction of being more like biological systems. A totally different beast compared to SMTP, XMPP and ActivityPub.

Art. 15 of the Italian Constitution: "Freedom and confidentiality of correspondence and of every other form of communication is inviolable. Limitations may only be imposed by judicial decision stating the reasons and in accordance with the guarantees provided by the law."

Unfortunately the EU legislation violates the Italian Constitution in many ways already, will be just the latest in a long list.

There are quite a few nice-looking GTK notes apps now, but unfortunately none of them have the one feature I'd really need: The ability to paste screenshots/screencasts and have them inline as part of the note.

IIRC inline media is supported by GTKSourceView, I wonder why nobody uses it?
