I’ve never designed a role-playing game from scratch, and I would have said I wouldn’t know where to start, but now I do! I’m going to actually try this, and I already have some ideas about how try to stand out, and maybe avoid producing the same exact mega-dungeon (in a different order) as hundreds of other people.
I’m going to aim for a 52-story building. Seven rooms per floor, and some of the floors might be subterranean. Or trans-dimensional. Because this building, it ain’t right. It ain’t even wrong. It ain’t any kind of building you’ve seen before, and if you wake up anywhere in it, you’re about to have a bad time.
Of course I want it to work well with Mothership 1e rules. The stress mechanic alone is inspiring.
I don’t know. Should my first-ever RPG design be a 365-room mega-dungeon for the best horror RPG system out there? The way I think about it, even if I don’t quite make it 365 days, I should end up with a decent-sized area to explore, right?

I've had to delay this a few days due to work and finals, but here we are.
Mastodon has a huge racism problem. My girlfriend pointed it out and I started looking into it and realizing just how bad it was here. It was stupid of me to hope that a decentralized network would somehow not still reflect the white supremacy ever-present in our world.
So, with the small power I have, I'm trying to raise awareness. I added a section on content moderation (specifically the second paragraph) to Mastodon's #wikipedia article, to make sure the issue is a matter of public record and the ways it can be addressed are as well.
If you can talk about killing Nazis and stomping out racists and fascists, you should not be afraid to #fediblock them online. Protection of the most marginalized is as important in the digital commons as it is in the physical one and if this space isn't to devolve further into a white circle-jerk then protection of BIPOC comrades should be the first priority. Report and block fascists and racists.
Don't look to me for any answers, I get some racism and islamaphobia but I still only pass the brown paper bag test if the bag is one of the slightly lighter ones. Follow hashtags such as #BlackMastodonHistory, #BlackMastodon, and #BlackFedi, shut up, and listen. Not just hear, but listen and take action. Don't argue, don't ask questions requiring labor when you could just google the answers ffs, don't prize whiteness and civility over action.

@kevlin @cwebber described ChatGPT as Mansplaining As A Service, and honestly I can’t think of a better description. A service that instantly generates vaguely plausible sounding yet totally fabricated and baseless lectures at an instant with unflagging confidence in it’s own correctness on any topic, without concern, regard or awareness even of the level of expertise of it’s audience.
My audience here is probably in the single digits, and yet still somehow I'm in my own brain, putting pressure on myself to do things "well." For example, I've been thinking I should post more Genshin impact screenshots, because that game is beautiful, and because I've been playing it quite a bit lately. But one thing led to another and now I have 48 images in a folder and still haven't posted any of them.
And this software only lets me post four in a single message! I'm not going to post 12 posts in a row of video game screenshots, am I?

The first is from the Inazuma region I recently unlocked, which is based on Japan. The others are a nice set of three nearly-identical images from three times of day in the same spot in Liyue, which is based on China.

Warren Ellis, Depression
As The Hollywood Reporter puts it, Warren Ellis "was accused of using his success to coerce women into romantic and sexual relationships." He was offline for some time, seems to be in touch with the women representing his victims, and for now I've resumed reading his weekly newsletter, though less eagerly than I once did.
I am not interested in talking about his misdeeds, nor his penance, whether adequate or necessary or neither, or any of that. These two paragraphs just serve as an acknowledgement that Warren Ellis is a complicated figure to refer to in 2022, and I'm aware of that, but I think this link is worth the trouble.

As someone who struggled with undiagnosed depression for decades, and diagnosed depression for years, I found it moving and helpful, and I hope if you relate to any part of this, you know you're not alone, and there is hope.

From Day 1 the entire premise of the Federation is that it’s a post-scarcity socialist utopia whose mission is scientific discovery and the peaceful exploration of space and discovery of new cultures.
The shows have always pushed the social boundaries of the times they aired in. Trek isn’t “turning woke”, Star Trek has always been woke. How’d you not know?
Watching people on #BlackMastodon sharing great music yesterday sent me into my YouTube history, and helped expand that history a bit, too. I’m not sure why I picked this song specifically to throw into the pot, but I love the energy of this song, and I loved this show when Sho Baraka came to Dallas, Texas, in 2016. I stood out a bit, but great music is great, and I felt welcomed.
