Planting Undetectable Backdoors in Machine Learning Models
Abstract
Given the computational cost and technical expertise required to train machine learning models, users may delegate the task of learning to a service provider. Delegation of learning has clear benefits, and at the same time raises serious concerns of trust. This work studies possible abuses of power by untrusted learners.
We show how a malicious learner can plant an undetectable backdoor into a classifier. On the surface, such a backdoored classifier behaves normally, but in reality, the learner main- tains a mechanism for changing the classification of any input, with only a slight perturbation.
Importantly, without the appropriate “backdoor key,” the mechanism is hidden and cannot be detected by any computationally-bounded observer. We demonstrate two frameworks for planting undetectable backdoors, with incomparable guarantees.

I just finished my last commission and I'm currently without a job.
I'm not strapped for cash, but having an income would be nice.
A company here in Rome wants to hire me for a job I'm not interested in: I've been working in the field for over 5 years and I'm now an expert.
I'm now trying to change my professional fields, but this offer is really enticing since I would get a reliable income (something I never had) for a job I can easily do.
I'm a bit unsure about accepting the offer, mainly because I don't want to be a dick to them: I'll keep searching jobs even though I'll start working there and I doubt I will be staying there for more than 2-3 months.
This might create some problems to those guys and I wouldn't be happy about it
On the other hand, I would get 2-3 months of salary, which wouldn't be bad at all since right now I'm burning through my savings.

Immediatamente preso e portato a casa.

The two main thinks I've been sewing lately are ready to be worn!
The skirt is a foundation skirt from a 1892 patternmaking manual in light blue linen/cotton with box pleated ruffles at the hem, made in a walking length (you can see the ankles! and the very modern hiking boots I'm wearing every day with late 1800 inspired clothing :D )
The shirt is a gentleman's shirt from a 1880 book, made in blue cotton with two pleats per side in the front plus the button placket and a handful of errors: I've put one of the three buttons in the wrong position (it should have been midway between the collar and the second button) and the cuffs are too small (and I've put the slit in the wrong position, wooops), so I haven't added buttons yet (and maybe I won't?)
