"Twitter essentially has gone, in a blink of an eye, from being an industry leader in transparency to the bottom of the barrel," GWU's @rebekahtromble told me. https://www.cnn.com/2023/02/09/tech/musk-twitter-transparency-researchers/index.html
I hope hardened BGP has a better acceptance rate than hardened DNS. It often takes a long time for things to be put in place and there are often unintended consequences (i.e. DNS amplification for DDoS).
You are right about it being obvious, but that has not stopped Russia from re-routing IP traffic through Russia multiple times.
Content encryption does not stop side-channels to establish traffic patterns.
Just saying, probably at least as realistic an attack as the balloon.
@lauren My understanding is that China Telecom has enough BGP points of presence that they can re-route US Internet traffic into China for surveillance at will.
We could generalize this to a few media resources, market it to multiple billionaires so that they can engage in their fantasies. There is a fortune to be made....
He should make a version of Chat-GPT that just strokes his fragile ego. I think I have a business model. This could be bigger than "Faux News." A version of Chat-GPT that just says how great white people and men with fragile egos are. Maybe name it something like Jordan Peterson?
NEW: Elon Musk fired a top engineer over his declining view counts.
Plus the reason the site went down yesterday, fears about an upcoming FTC audit, and more, and more.

From @zoeschiffer and me.
OK. Obvious answer for twitter employees: create bots that read Musk tweets and say how great he is....
Instead of being concerned about AIs being given the power of controlling nuclear annihilation, Musk is worried that they might not be racist enough:
One of the best people I’ve had the privilege of knowing passed away today: O. Lawton Wilkerson, who was my grandfather’s best friend for many decades and a Tuskegee Airman.
In the picture below, the gentleman on the left is O. Lawton Wilkerson. I’m in the middle. My grandfather is on the right. For most of my childhood, my grandfather and Lawton jointly owned and flew a Cessna 172. We took this picture shortly before I had the honor of taking them for a flight in my plane.
The interview where he says what he and Ivanka have in common is "sex"
His saying the big perk with running Miss Teen America is walking backstage while they are undressed.
But, the Supreme Court says "money is speech" and paying politicians to support outcomes is not corruption (or the appearance of corruption) unless the politician publicly states "there is quid pro quo".
<sarcasm>
So, you want to remove "speech" when there is no "corruption"?
<\sarcasm>
How close is this to being criminal activity? (Opinions welcome.)
I am confused about this. If twitters cost saving measures increased CSAM, isn't that the same (basically) as increasing revenue by distributing CSAM?
I think it would also be good to get the police to read some William S Burroughs and Jean Genet. Maybe we could use this to expand their minds some.
“Das war ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bucher verbrennt man auch am Ende Menschen”
translates as
“That was but a prelude; where they burn books, they will ultimately burn people also”.
The right is truly dedicated to free speech
@Dynomoose @joncamfield How much incest can you stand?
On the bright side, when they privatized prisons, judges were incentivized to give longer sentences and put more people in jail. This should logically lead to TX judges forcing people to read books!
We are talking about TX, you know.
