The Butlerian Jihad may or may not be named after Samuel Butler, author of "Darwin among the Machines" (1868) on the dangers of mechanized life, which ends with:

> War to the death should be instantly proclaimed against them. Every machine of every sort should be destroyed by the well-wisher of his species. Let there be no exceptions made, no quarter shown; let us at once go back to the primeval condition of the race.

Fedi Nota Bene:

I opt out of favourites & boost notifications in the conviction that the internet needs to be “degamed”.

I am intentionally blind to follower counts and metrics of all kinds.

I strongly support #OfflineFirst and #Smolnet above Web 2.0 parasocial media like fediverse.

I support an ethical and compassionate #ButlerianJihad.

Toodloo!

If you’re AI skeptical/critical/cynical and you’re not helping make #ButlerianJihad a meme, why did you even read Dune?

(*) the Butlerian Jihad was a fictional galaxy scale war between humans and thinking machines

John Cale has the perfect answer:

"Ordinary intelligence isn't what it used to be either."

@tansy

Then it sounds like he successfully implemented the Tory agenda.

@esther I think that part of this is due to training it via the gobs of text n the Internet. Let's face it, the level of discourse on the Internet proves Sturgeon's Law (90% of everything is crap). But, I think you are missing the larger point: it is a feature not a bug.

Like with software construction, everyone has given up on quality. They only want something they can sell. If you can market it to other CEOs, who also do not care about quality, then you have succeeded.

This article in the Onion is one of those times where satire is better able to tell the truth than facts. theonion.com/what-i-got-right-

War on women in USA:

1. “How close to death must their patient be for them to avoid criminal prosecution?” Johnson said. “That’s something that I don’t think we should be asking women to test.”

2. Jobs where the chance of being beaten to death in USA are mainly (you guessed it) positions held by women:

It looks like some parts of our country want to exterminate women.

This week's comic: What we are experiencing in America right now is not so much a "culture war" as an asymmetrical attack on basic freedoms and human rights.
