The engineers deserve some blame. If they are developing harmful systems, they have a duty to think ahead and foresee the consequences.

The executives, obviously deserve much of the blame by being shortsighted and blinded by dollar signs.

Politicians, and society at large, also deserve much of the blame by putting a system in place where companies are not held responsible for the social ills caused by their products. If monetary damages were levied on companies who caused social ills, things would change.

I am also starting to favor the idea of jail time for C-Suite officers when their companies produce products that clearly have not been adequately tested and verified that they do not cause physical/severe psychological damage.

@pj @freemo @DutyBard Seems reasonable, although, I would posit that defensive gun use is pretty objective. If I see kids on my lawn and brandish a firearm to scare them, for me it may seem to be defensive gun use for them it is aggression.

In any case, gun violence is now the #1 cause of death among young people in the USA. Gun deaths are higher in states with laxer laws. They are increasing over time. If you compare the USA with, for example, Australia which is culturally pretty similar, some conclusions seem pretty clear.
