@thatguyoverthere @DutyBard @freemo @pj It is an opinion piece. He cites statistics to bolster his argument. Both are legit. He is not falsely claiming his opinions are facts, but opinions should be interpretations of facts.
@thatguyoverthere @DutyBard @freemo @pj Those comments are quite reasonable. One could do it per capita. I would suspect that overall violent death still higher in USA. We have a declining life expectancy, which is an OECD anomaly.

@grin @neilhimself I liked the Koran better. English translation which is blasphemy. Did not like the Bhagavd Gita (sp?). Zen and Taoist books made the most sense to me. Particularly like Chuang Tsu. Have yet to try the Book of Mormon.

I did read the bible once. That might have been what made me an atheist.

@andrei_chiffa @dymaxion @GossiTheDog I think a lot of it is laziness. People take short-cuts because that is what they learned in school and they do not want to think. There is a lot you can do, once you get the right mind-set.
The issue is mast people want to be spoon-fed rather than think for themselves.
I have some assignments where I point out a security issue, give them code with a vulnerability, and the assignment is "surprise me." It is really depressing to hear them respond with: "What do I have to do to get a B"
@andrei_chiffa @dymaxion @GossiTheDog At that time, they had circular reasoning. Being gay was a security hazard, because if someone learned you were gay they could blackmail you. Because being gay was a security hazard. Although, in Turing's case having won WWII should have been reason enough for an exception.
