@taz seems like your fear here is if we massively organize society around justice, some people who found local profit or status or ego boost by exploiting the previous paradigm would probably try to keep doing so. Correct. Reparations aren’t aimed at curbing bad actors directly. Most would be curbed by the new more just context over time, but regardless the upside gain dwarfs any pesky remnant of bad acting.
Rich people, how much to neutralize the desperation that keeps us targets of anger and frightens our every step in this shared world lest we lose or find diluted the wealth to which we’ve hastily given over our sense of identity and peace? Always we count the cost in the present: Who will market the ongoing benefits of an absolute bargain like this?
