The bloodiest software design sins I've seen, by a wiiiiiide margin, were done in the name of avoiding repetition.

Not deadlines. Not requirements change. Not performance. Not workarounds for glitchy dependencies. Just an overdeveloped distaste for "repeating" any work that has even the barest hint of incidental similarity.

The #RaspberryPi 5 is here and like its predecessor it supports decoding and displaying H.265 in 4K@60fps.
Some of you may wonder: does that really work on a modern #Linux / #FDO desktop? If my laptop fan starts spinning when playing such content, how can the PI handle it?

For months I had noticed on a map this place in the middle of a forest marked "Memorial Stone".

So today I went to check it out.

But returned none the wiser. The large boulder, off any beaten track, carries only the mysterious inscription: "Bornellen Wiese 1833", which means "Bornellian Meadow 1833".

Search engines yield nothing.

The word 'Born' can mean a spring. There are moist meadows in the area - a glacier once ran through the area. But a date? For a meadow?

A mystery.

The Software Longevity Team at Fairphone (which I'm part of 😀) is excited to announce that today, following the Fairphone 5 launch, we are also releasing the source code for its Android 13 operating system.

When I talk to comic book artists I always emphasize the importance of clearly separating their planes of depth. This rule is only for comics and does not apply to Turkish photographer Sami Uçan.
