@11112011
... America runs on children?
Jones was right all along.
@mute_city @11112011 @epic @acacia227 tbh I think the guys at the top in the US are seeing their position tottering and taking notes from China
@11112011 as I said, window dressing
at least trump was an entertaining cunt, now all the clowns do is bad spreadsheets
@ck_SNARKs @obiwankenobit he's a salty motherfucker but by the gods I still love the guy
@11112011 bro, stop, you're becoming one of them
@11112011 had a very brief flick through his comments. the guy has a point in the sense that the policy response, where it isn't window dressing, will likely be authoritarian and/or unbalance and already teetering economy, even with the best will in the world.
rock and a hard place though... something in our cultural DNA the last 4 decades seems incapable of generating competent institutions outside of STEM fields.
I've always dug the carbon capture deal as a short term solution while the culture changes. We're not gonna stop China and developing countries from building dirty industry, nor should we imo, so developing a hands off way of tackling the primary physical cause seems a pretty robust way of doing that.
we need to steer, sure, but without brakes we're hitting that tree burgers or no.
let me know if you want any more mixed metaphors I've got at least 7
@anita how's one turkey going to stop bitcoin
@11112011 this is really awkward cos I don't even know who kudlow is... played Phoebe in friends right?
she was always a hippie, we should have seen this coming years ago
Essence of Philosophy
The prudent humanitarians like Bertrand Russell saw philosophy as making slow but steady progress towards establishing the sciences & knowledge in general.
The more cryptic & tormented like Wittgenstein saw it as a non-problem or a puzzle that just would not leave him alone.
Still others like the existentialists saw it in far more subjective terms as a response to the absurdity of life, one that requires not just intellectual but passionate involvement.
@11112011 the shitposters curse
@11112011 bro we're like five levels deep in the meme, I can't handle actually discussing the matter at hand.
@11112011 gotta question anyone who needs to conjure up mobs in his mind to explain cities in ashes. Sad!
“When the mind has a tendency to dream, it is a mistake to keep dreams away from it, to ration its dreams. So long as you distract your mind from its dreams, it will not know them for what they are; you will always be being taken in by the appearance of things, because you will not have grasped their true nature. If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time. One must have a thorough understanding of one’s dreams if one is not to be troubled by them; there is a way of separating one’s dreams from one’s life which so often produces good results that I ask myself whether one ought not, at all costs, to try it, simply as a preventive, just as certain surgeons make out that we ought, to avoid the risk of appendicitis later on, to have all our appendices taken out when we are children.”
