Some of my classmates don't have this issue. But some do.

I think it's more related to how well you know a language. Normally, I don't require a subtitle to watch/enjoy videos from the English world. And sometimes I talk to myself in English when I'm writing code (which I think it's a English environment despite I'm a Chinese)

When learning languages, before it can be self-explanatory (like explaining an English word in English), I need to translate them into the language I know (normally, it's Chinese).

It applies to Japanese, where I catch some words from the sentences, knowing what it means in Chinese, but the whole sentence is represented in English insubtitles, which I don't translate them into Chinese anymore, the issue occurred.

I tried to learn Germany in English on duolingo, and I was perfectly fine when a Germany video had English subtitles. But still ok if it has Chinese subtitles, where my brain just gives up and doesn't care about the Germany voice. (However, I only learned about 2 weeks before I switched back to Japanese)

@trinsec
It depends. If someone is speaking English and subtitles are English, I'm fine with it.

But if someone is speaking Japanese, where I can't fully understand but do understand some words occasionally, and the subtitle is English, I find that it is extremely confusing. However, if the actress is singing like in the video, I'm ok with the subtitle since my brain can't catch the word.

After I shared this video, I dig into the Japanese world, where I can't understand a single sentence (I do understand some characters by random chance).

Anyway, it's different sets of casts. Toho has two sets of cast for モーツァルト!(Mozart!) in 2014, where the most popular one is 井上芳雄 with 香寿たつ, has a lot of resources available to download. Another set is 山崎育三郎 with 春野寿美礼, which I do like but seems rare to find.

Toho still sells discs today, but 12100 Yen (around 100 USD)? It is too expensive for me (BlueRay without Chinese subtitles, which I can't understand a word).

For some unknow reason, I can't find the full video of this version. Some source suggested this is 2014, where 春野寿美礼 shares the character with another actress. But this youtube video suggested this is 2016.

I do hate copy right when google said some results are removed

It looks like 3 monitors in a row but in VR mode. It's floating somewhere and you need to move your head to see different screens, and your laptop screen can be the 4th screen.

If the space is a limitation, then this glasses is a pretty good solution. But for daily use, I'd prefer physical monitors too.

The 3 virtual display on PC is appealing.

Yesterday I had an argument/debate with my friend.

My friend suggested that "memory mapped I/O" should be appropriately named "virtual memory mapped I/O", otherwise it would be misunderstood as something that copied back and forth between CPU ram and IO devices, like Fig 1.

Then I argued that this misunderstanding won't happen if you consider the actual hardware architecture: There is no such thing to do the copy. The hardware only redirects your access to a certain ram address to a device's space. For example, the ram's 0x5000 to the UART chip register in this video.

And then we came to the ambiguity of the term "memory". He thought memory referred to the physical memory, considering the device memory is not related to the CPU's physical memory, thus it should be called "virtual memory mapped I/O", since the mapped space looks like a part of the CPU RAM but actually not. With this ambiguity, I thought the virtual memory itself will be ambiguous considering it's originally describing how OS manages processes' ram, and now you use it for IO mapping.

In the end, he thought me don't care about the logic of language, and is ridiculous. I thought this is fine, and I do not care the that, then what?

Well, you see my broken English in this toot. 😂

Tomorrow I'll ask if ChatGPT can mimic that.

Despite spen delivered a outstanding writing experience (better than Apple), I still prefer paper. But the inconvenience of bring a lot of paper and pen (Platinum 3776 with F nib, using carbon black ink which means looking for troubles) while traveling is not a happy thing to do.

Especially the carbon black ink is tricky to handle, and often clogs the pen.

Apparently, samsung still needs to improve their handwriting to text system, as I didn't figure out how to write like a printer since I was young. Starting from 8, I just don't know how people can write characters strokes by stroke while still maintaining the general shape. And without continuous stroke, I just can't write.

In case you don't know who it is, it's OpenAl's ChatGPT. I saw people start blocking contents containing that name/word, so I decided to use the title "you know who" from the Hany Potter Series to defeat that Stupid filter.

Apart from Luna and Snape (which Iliked most), Professor McGonagall was also brilliantly portrayed (more admiration than just liking), while Dumbledore saw Harry as a tool to defeat Voldemort, and Snape was a double agent, only Professor McGonagall said "Harry is a boy, not a piece of meat". I believe that the true classic of the Harry Potter movies lies not only in its plot and visual effects, but also in the actors' interpretation of their characters. Perhaps in the future, streaming services like Netflix or Amazon can create a TV series that depicts Harry Potter in great detail, with outstanding technical and visual effects, but the original actors will always hold a special place in fans' hearts that can never be replaced.

This text is translated by you know who, it's slightly different from what I originally means, but the text is just more English than Google and deepl gives. And of course it's hugely different from how I speak English normally.

@trinsec I found myself generally hard to follow a long series. The movie is not that hard. Usually, 2 hours would finish it. Series of movies are also fine (still takes me 2 weeks to finish harry potter, I mean, watching 3~4 movies a day, then resting for a week).

TV series and animes are pretty hard. Generally 12 episodes per season, and several seasons in total, not counting OVA or OVD or something. And I have to remember what's going on in the last episode, which is pretty hard if I didn't finish them in a sequential/continued manner.

@trinsec Yeah, even though the movie is 150 minutes it's still not long enough to get everything in it. I didn't read the book, but I do read reviews and spoilers before I watch things. In the last two movies, I think some scenes are just too hurried and I would never figure out without going through those reviews and deleted scenes.

Maybe Netflix or someone can make a series of TV shows for each book (I heard about Amazon was doing a middle-earth series), the movie is still a classic (in terms of visualizing the magical world).

@trinsec
I just watched all the movies. I also have the Middle Earth series in my queue, after a lot of animes I collected since 2019 (I rarely watch videos since then)
