I eventually bought the Samsung T7 2TB (actually it's 1.81TB due to the difference between 1024 and 1000).
I used it for about a week and didn't have too many things to share. It's working, it's fast, and it's good enough. Also, it makes me want to throw away all mechanical hard drives, they are damn slow.
One thing that disappointed me is the encryption software. It only supports Windows, MacOS, and Android. No Linux support. It's not something like BitLocker or VeraCrypt, they are software that encrypts the data. The Samsung T7 has hardware built into the drive that handles the encryption. After unlocking the hard drive, it's just a normal disk, and you can add your own software encryption on top of that.
I assume that use a separate USB device or interface, but I didn't verify yet. Maybe it's a great time to pick up Golang again? (Definitely don't want to use Java to do USB things anymore)

There was a time when compilers didn't collect data from devs and end users. Google's Go lang may add telemetry that's on by default. We already know many IDEs come telemetry. What next? Go adding telemetry to binaries built with it? https://www.theregister.com/2023/02/10/googles_go_programming_language_telemetry_debate/ What do you think?

But I still don't know why I want a NAS so desperately.
看到消息说 #乌克兰 派大量救援人员去土耳其支援,因为过去一年他们积累了大量在废墟中营救的经验,一下子眼睛湿了。
