@trinsec Yes, thankfully the building across the ally is only 4 stories tall

@clacke @yogthos@mastodon.social They could, I doubt that would happen though: look at their behavior toward HK and ROC.

>worse than what US people would tolerate in their own country, and that's a pretty high bar.

I'm guessing you don't live in the US? We're pretty abusive to our own people: I think something like 1% of men here are incarcerated and there are a lot of laws that exist largely just to make it easier for police to harass groups of people we don't like. Not to mention what we do with Mexicans.
IMO: what the US people tolerate is a terribly low bar.

@yogthos@mastodon.social Most people aren't fans of genocide. Ever wondered why Hitler is so unpopular?

For the first time since last fall my apartment has direct sunlight in it again :)

@jmw150 Meh. People will always pay lots of money for very bad software.

@icedquinn One trick if you can't get the interface to work as a wakeup source is to instead use the RTC. Then you either spam the machine with the magic packet or have it poll an always on machine.

@freemo @funny That looks like something straight out of "The Life of Brian" haha

@metalune@fosstodon.org @kev It turns out I misremembered: paragraphs are closer to 1k-.5k.

@metalune@fosstodon.org @kev A paragraph of english text is usually about 4k UTF-8 encoded. 64k-128k is totally reasonable for something information dense. 512k sounds like infotex html pages and books.

@Hyolobrika @lbry Yeah, peertube is the actual decentralized tool. I still haven't figured out how to subscribe to lbry from mastodon.

@lucifargundam IMO: the qoto web UI is much better than most of the apps.

@fatboy I have some puts expiring in the summer so I hope so.

@drwho Better: don't use bad software and bad platforms. People make fun of GNU but they exist for a reason.

The security community has just figured out that Lastpass' Android app has trackers built into it.

Of course it does. 90% of the stuff you get out of the Play Store, from any manufacturer, will have at least one (and usually more) trackers embedded in it.

That is part of the ecosystem. It is also baked into some of the more popular devkits out there, and the developers might not even know they're there.

Seriously, folks... assume that you are being tracked and monitored, and act accordingly. This is a logical and reasonable thing to assume in the 21st century until you prove otherwise to your own satisfaction.

@sotolf@fosstodon.org Life is really tough sometimes. IME it's never as bad as it seems during the lows. I hope you're doing ok.
