@metalune@fosstodon.org They'll come for mastodon eventually.

To the people who think banning will help with the environmental impact of mining: China has a ban and that's the country where most of the mining happens.

totally serious tinfoil territory

@bonifartius Yeah, definitely agree extra ram is nice. My main computer has 32G of ram and I compile everything from tmpfs which is super nice.

That laptop is 10 years old btw, so it was the max I could get at the time.

@fluffy @methyltheobromine

Eggs are much better than meat and milk. Remember that they're just sitting around (possibly under) chickens until they're collected, you can leave them out for quite a while before they go bad. In addition, eating uncooked eggs is usually considered much more safe than uncooked milk or meat.

I don't understand why you wouldn't put eggs in the refrigerator though. I've had eggs that lasted a whole year because I do this and it adds mass to the refrigerator which can help reduce temperature swings.

@bonifartius How do you run out of 8GB? I have an 8GB laptop with a dead hard disk connector on the motherboard and I just use 4GB as a rootfs (via tmpfs) after booting from a thumbdrive.

on : "They're definitely doing something wrong but dealing with it is just too hard."

@metalune@fosstodon.org yeah, that;s exactly why I play ukulele, they're a lot easier to buy in multiples and leave laying around. Pianos are big and expensive so you never end up practicing on them

@metalune@fosstodon.org Emacs configs, Writing a web browse,. Writing a small interpreter, learning ukulele.

@0 I have a hard time imagining XMPP being safe to use in any way in a car.

@icedquinn They're mostly auto generated from .desktop files now so it's not such a big deal.

@freemo Oh gosh don't start that one.
IMO the whole abortion thing is just used to divide people into two groups to make marketing/campaigning/PR easier.

The hackers thought they were setting up an audio-based exfiltration method on an air-gapped machine, but I actually tricked them into fixing my audio on Linux

@trinsec @freemo @khird Yeah most people who live here have no idea what entering involves, especially the vaccination requirements.

Did my cell carrier start giving me a NATed ipv6 address?
I guess they would have gotten in trouble just dumping everyone's phones on the public internet.

We *really* need to establish signing commits with a verified key as common practice in software development.

For some critical projects it should probably even be a strict requirement for collaboration 🤔

(for some it already is, but it's still the exception, not the rule)
