🇬🇧 The EU plans for messaging and #chat control violate our fundamental rights. The EP Research Service @EP_ThinkTank@twitter.com also confirms this. I spoke on this in the LIBE Committee last week - dialled in on the way to the European Court of Justice.

Just a reminder that Google still hasn't unbanned Andrew Spinks[1]
We all knew famous people throwing a fit on twitter would stop working eventually. Now Google products really have no support.
Back up your photos and email *today.* I seriously regret not doing it.

It really might all be coming apart.
I used to love the caffeine buzz from coffee but now I can't stand it. I'm not sure if it's part of aging or if it's because my life is a lot less of a mess now.
Either way, I didn't realize how strong the coffee I made on Monday was until I had a few cups (I'm used to drinking it all the time and having a much higher tolerance.) I finally feel better today.

i can't really blame them, i wouldn't like to get doxxed either. it's a hack 💁
if your activism depends on big tech you can't be taken seriously anyway.
The rant about bugzilla crumbling and #sdl moving to #github is pretty sad to read. It's probably a good move for them though.

Hey fediverse folk! Is there somewhere a map of federation/defederation of fediverse? I mean which instances see/listen to which other instances (since the relationship is asymmetrical). Does not have to be graphical, but ideally searchable (text files?).
Point is, I suspect my home instance might be blocked by some other instances I am interested in and I have no way to know whether people out there will even see my toots if I speak to them first.
Any explanations and pointers appreciated. Thanks.
The #Rust #bootstrap chain has shrinked in #Guix:
https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/commit/?h=core-updates&id=df93fc21a48047988b032ead90b0869491c834c8
In essence, mrustc (a Rust compiler in C++) is now used to build Rust 1.29, instead of 1.19 as was the case before:

Right. Indeed. There are two levels to the world: https://qoto.org/@FailForward/105652797745648749
And the problem with interactions in the digital sphere is exactly the lack of physical reality, body language clues, etc. _If I cannot sense what your acts are, the only heuristic to guess your character are (my interpretations of) your words._ But since words are a one dimensional linear serialisation of the rich and colourful universe in your head, by necessity the character estimate I construct will be largely wrong (as would be any 1D projection of an xD object).
Perhaps the robustness principle would be a good guidance here:

It's not exactly tolerance. Benevolence? What's the right human word for this?

Email mastodon+swiley@swiley.net (this makes all of my computers beep and turn on an indicator light and is always the fastest way to reach me.) I was on octodon a while ago but abandoned my account. I've never been a member of gab or parlor.
If you’d like to learn to program I would consider the SICP [1] more or less the peak of American CS pedagogy (at least as far as beginners go) along with “The Practice of Programming” once you get through that.
I play ukulele, I’m ok at reading music and decent at improv. I learned from Walter Piston’s “Harmony” and some of Adam Neely’s videos.
My main phone is a pine phone so if I don’t pick up when you call the battery is probably dead, the modem is probably dead, or I’m currently swearing at calls/pulseaudio/alsa. I’d strongly recommend sending an email instead.
Dispite what my web page says I’ve stopped uploading my scratch projects to GitHub once I started to understand the basics of collaboration with git. I was using the flamegraph as gamification/motivation but it doesn’t work as well with feature branch/squash merge workflows so I just keep most things on my VPS until I’m happy with publishing updates.
